The locality from which this fossil is from is a classic site that is now closed and inaccessible. Fossil fish from New England are rare, but Triassic Fossil Fish are near unheard of, no matter where in the world you are.

This plate also features a wonderful and large coprolite from a Coelacanth.

Details

Semionotus ("Flag-Back") is an extinct genus of ray-finned fish found throughout Northern Pangaea (North America and Europe) during the late Triassic, becoming extinct in the Early Jurassic.
