2.6 in. Associated Enchodus Fish Vertebra - Morocco

The Enchodus were a group of boney fish that lived in much of the world's ancient oceans. Enchodus species were small to medium in size. One of the genus' most notable attributes are the large "fangs" at the front of the upper and lower jaws and on the palatine bones, leading to its misleading nickname among collectors, "the saber-toothed herring".

This specimen comes from the phosphate mines located near Khourigba, Morocco and are dated from the Upper Cretaceous to the Eocene Period (99-50 Million Years Old)
