Hollardops mesocristata (Le Maître, 1952)
Middle Devonian (410 Million Years)
Hamar Lagdad Formation, Mount Issoumour, Alnif , Morocco
Expertly cleaned by one of our trusted trilobite fossil preparators, here is a specimen we just brought back from our trip to Morocco in November 2014. Less than 5% restoration has been done to prepare this specimen, along the head, cephalon, on the right front cheek there is a small area that was expertly filled, lost when initially exposed in the quarry. Taking hours to days at a time for a single specimen, pneumatic chisels and air abrasives are used to expose specimens as these.
Presented here is a fairly common trilobite that is known as "Metacanthina" as a common mislabeling. Famous for it's detailed eyes and broad and protruding body form. Makes for a perfect palm size study piece or presentation specimen. This particular specimen exhibits amazing orange calcite lensed eyes.
Trilobite : 2.48 x 1.49 inch / 6.3 x 3.8 cm
1 inch = 2.54 cm
